Ethanol As A Fuel

Ethanol News Links

So now that you are acquainted with ethanol you are likely wondering if anyone is really using this stuff. It is all well and good to tout the advantages of ethanol as well as other alternative fuels for your vehicles. But the question still remains, "is anybody really using this stuff?".

To answer this question it would pay one to research the availability of ethanol in their area. Is it readily available or do you need to drive to the next town to fill up? There is a great web site named the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition who has an online map of the continental United States, Alaska, and Hawaii showing ethanol availability. During the construction of this particular page on our own web site we found there was a posting on their web site about the number of ethanol refueling stations.

E85 Stations Exceed 1,800

Jefferson City, MO - The National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition (NEVC), the nation’s primary advocate of the use of E85 and high level blends of ethanol in flexible fuel vehicles, is pleased to announce that the number of E85 stations has now exceeded 1,800. There are currently 1,802 private and public refueling stations across the U.S. The number of facilities have grown 28 percent since October 2007.

Judging by the data in these two sources it seems quite safe to say that ethanol is on fact being used in vehicles more and more. Otherwise ethanol distribution would not be taking place on such a large scale if there wasn't an actual ethanol demand.
