First Biodiesel Plant Proposed for Schuylkill, Pennsylvania

NAGSCO Corp., which is working with Liberty Oil, intends to construct its first biodiesel plant in Schuylkill County, to convert food waste oil into biodiesel fuel.

The proposed facility is under scrutiny from Schuylkill County Council members and the Schuylkill County Municipal Authority concerned about the potential local impact, especially because the proposed facility will be close to two community playgrounds.

Schuylkill County Council member Councilman Andy Palokas said, "The borough is doing some research to see what laws apply. We want to make sure we know our rights and we want to make sure we do what's best for our residents," The Republican Herald newspaper reported.
